Are there any regulations who is alloud to enter those churches? I remember that i tried to visit the isle of Athos and my wife was not allowed to enter it, because she is a woman. That was around 20 years ago and i don't know if this has changed.
No, in Athos (third 'finger' of Chalkidiki) it is still the same. It is a very old tradition. Woman who wont to see the icons can stay on the ferry infront of the Port and the pope will enter the ferry with the icon. But Athos is am monastery, not a church. For churches you have to be dressed proper, thats all.
