Traveling to Kastro this year 2008 turned out somewhat of a disappointment: The former beauty of natural stone houses and original Kastro-Style-Buildings has been destroyed in the recent years... Almost all (!) of the authentic housing has been pulled down and piles of rock are now sad reminders of Kastro as it used to be.
At least the Road to Kastro still is dreadful and one should think twice before getting there with one of the rented cars... there is a good chance that you will damage it.
